Here are all of the negative
comments received from our survey.
- I thought the book was interesting; but, quite frankly,
this was my worst year of fantasy football.
- I'm not sure what I got for the money. A bunch of obvious advice
and a bunch of web links. I've never paid for advice before, and
always did well. This year I paid for this and footballguys.com. I
think that website helped some with IDP, but your book did not help at
all.
- I'M A LITTLE DISAPPOINTED WITH THE WR THEORY. I'M A 22 YEAR VET
OF FFL'ING AND ALL MY TEAMS, IN 4 DIFFERENT FFL'S, FAILED TO MAKE THE
PLAYOFFS!!! THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I'VE BEEN SHUTOUT!!! MY
MISTAKE WAS EMPLOYING YOUR WR THEORY. I BELIEVE THIS THEORY WOULD
WORK WELL IF YOU RECEIVED A POINT/RECEPTION. UNFORTUNATELY, ALL MY FFL'S
ONLY AWARD POINTS FOR YARDAGE AND TD'S. I HAD ALL OF THE SUPPOSED "STUD
WR'S" SPREAD ACROSS MY ROSTERS, BUT THEY ALL SUFFERED SOME SORT
OF INJURY AND MISSED SOME GAMES. I WILL GO BACK TO DRAFTING MY
RB'S FIRST.
- I'm not convinced that the draft strategy will win most leagues. In
ours, at least, it was still dominated by the 3-4 top draft picks. Granted,
this is a freak year with LT going absolutely berserk, but still. I do
think your approach is much like poker players where you are counting
on playing in 10 leagues so the law of averages works. However, you still
need to emphasize that draft position, especially in loose leagues, matters
a lot!
- I did like and appreciate the book, I just don't think it helped. Thanks
very much
- Your man love for Antonio Gates was apparent and misguided
- It was an interesting book more geared for novices. It had little
usable information for the major national contests and really nothing
too ground breaking. However, it was easy to read and would be
good for someone who has played very little before.
- I made the playoffs in 2 out of 3 leagues. But for 12 team leagues
it's real hard to draft according to the book's plan, and even more hard
to continue to pick up RBs. Also, the book makes no accounting
for leagues where you have to pay a transaction fee for each transaction.
- Basing a book on one season of data is a dangerous thing to do, and
I think does a disservice to readers.
- I had 4 teams with two doing well and 2 very poorly. I couldn't recover
from drafting last in a 12 team league when my first and second round
rbs were busts. I made the playoffs in one league with the highest point
total, but it appears I'll lose the semifinals and will play for third.
The other league is a 17 week horserace and I'm currently second with
the highest point total.
- I used your advice in two drafts, neither team made
the playoffs; in fact, they were close to the bottom in the league. I used my previous
draft strategies and finished first and third in those two leagues. Needless
to say, I won't be using your strategies next year.
- I would buy again, if for nothing else, the chapter
on how to run Fantasy Football as a business makes the whole book worthwhile. I am more
in the mold of Zarzycki which is in disagreement with a lot of this book,
especially drafting defenses so early. I sit here agonizing over
whether or not I will make the Championship in 3 leagues and knowing
I made it in 3 others. Despite horrid drafting slots this year I will
still make money and look forward to the WCOFF next year.
- Defending my title and finished 5-9 not a good season.
- As with anything that needs adjustments I need to reassess what happened
this season.
- I would not have purchased it but for the recommendation
of Fantasy Football Mastermind. I used your strategies in "The Jungle" and
I got KILLED!
- NEVER AGAIN!
- I'VE BEEN PLAYING FANTASY FOOTBALL FOR TWENTY YEARS. AFTER
READING YOUR BOOK I FEEL LIKE I SHOULD PUBLISH MY OWN.
- Disappointed in the book. When I initially read it, I thought it was
great; however I drafted exactly how the book suggested and I ended up
3-11 and realized I was better off using my own strategy which I used
the previous number of years. The book used the strategy to draft for
the playoffs but I found you have to get there first and then worry about
who to play when the time comes. The highly suggested strategy to go
all out for Gates this year also backfired in my face. I will not use
the same strategy next year. The book also does not really cover 10 team
league strategies that well, which is mostly what I participate in.
- Book Sucked
- Needs to cover more auction strategy and dynasty strategy. Too much
round robin and not everyone playts that format.
- Gates was not a must have this year; in fact I did better in leagues
where I did not draft him.
- Mr. Gates sure did not live up to the billing you gave him.
- I really felt like a sucker after buying the book
-- it was a total waste. You did a great job marketing it, but
I feel you took advantage of people with an inferior product.
- The book was a waste of money.
- I followed the A.Gates theory and unfortunately,
he did not out pace the rest of the TE's as he did in previous years,
thus putting my team in a hole. I was able to make the playoffs
in a few leagues and just missed in a few others, but I was unable to
put together a dominating squad this season.
- I feel the book should be titled how to win at CBS
Sportsline....The info was way too specific ...and was basicly useless
too other formats....I was expecting a all inclusive "golden " info.....most
who play in money leagues and are involved in the hobbie know most everything
in your book....Would be great for someone who has thosands to throw
down on leagues, just to keep them focused...Im not that guy
- The Gates call was out and out wrong.
- I'm in three leagues that each has been around for
12+ years, with 90% of the orignial owners. Book was written for cheesy internet games
where you're competing against amateurs. Believe it held great
tips for those who did that, but that's just not my thing. Needed
something to get an edge against very well prepared owners, did not really
provide.
- The advice to take Gates in the 3rd round was not good.
